disclaimer; if you go on a night out with me and i have a little blue olympus camera with me, it is more than likely your mug (or fat head, slapsy) will end up on this blog.

Camp Muzza

we have started an annual tradition of camping over the easter long weekend, and is now officially known to all involved as camp muzza (could i sound more ocker?! thanks slapsy, you know who you are!). the weekend just gone is our third year in a row spent camped along the banks of the lovely murray river in yarrawonga.

it bucketed down the first day, of course heaviest while we were putting up our tent... fantastic weather the rest of the weekend, although very chilly at night. i was still cold sleeping in ugg boots, thermals, pjs, beanie, eye mask and ear plugs (we had ferals camping next to us). it was lovely though to just spend countless hours sitting around the camp fire, pretending not to laugh at caps 'cap-erisms' (if he knows some of them are funny he'll never stop!), reading, drinking, eating, napping and then doing it all over again.

we used to 'rough it' when we first started camping years ago, you know, sleep on a rolled up bit of foam etc but somehow have ended up quite the yuppy campers. we now have a massive, and i mean massive tent, so huge that sarndy has nicknamed it the 'big top'; it's not that big, it sleeps 8, maybe a little excessive for just the 2 of us? it has two rooms, one 'the boudoir' and the other i now refer to as 'the foyer' or 'the vestibule' as my pommy git of a husband calls it. our bed is not your normal bit of foam or blow up mattress anymore, we now have a queen sized double thickness velour airbed (we pump it up inside the tent so no one can see how ridiculous we have become). our most recent purchase is an outdoor shower, a marvellous invention. this is my favourite camping accessory, i don't care what anyone thinks about our shower, i can't go for 4 days without a shower. i think i'm starting to show my age.

sarndy & crap, oops i mean cap.

the obligatory fishing pose.

the raging inferno.

Seaworld

these are our fantastic friends keith & thea (hubby is in the middle; beer in hand as usual). i suppose i can call them friends, although thea (aka slapsy) is my mum's brother's wife's sister... yeah, work that one out...! hubby helped out with keiths electrics on saturday and as a thank you he showered us with the most fabulous mexican food you have ever eaten.

in response to your comment about mondayitis, zenmonki, you know what i also realised a few weeks ago? i blow-dry my hair on average 3 times a week averaging about 10 minutes per blow-dry, so there you have half an hour a week. calculating that per year; i spend 26 HOURS blow-drying my hair per year. a drop in the ocean i suppose. or, as a swede would say, a fart in space i suppose.
